The Afternoon Flunker
By Carly L.
Dedicated to: My 4th grade class, family and friends,
and my wonderful teacher, Mrs. Philo.
“Isabella, it’s time for school,” my mom said sweetly.
So I dragged myself out of bed and walked into the bathroom. I was so tired because I had stayed up late that night doing my homework. I washed my hands and my face and went to get dressed. As of most of the time, I wore a plain tee shirt (usually pink or blue), shorts (regularly white), and bright-colored socks. Now that I was awake a little more, I walked downstairs to eat breakfast.
“Good morning,” said my mother.
“Same to you,” I said.
“Did you have a good night rest?” asked my mother.
“Sure,” I said.
I sat down to eat breakfast. My mom had cooked me eggs and bacon with sausage on toast. It was really good. I ran outside to catch the bus. I could smell the sweet crisp smell of daisies; the air was moist and dew was on the grass. It was a lovely morning. And I made sure my homework was in my book bag.
Since I wasn’t doing very well in Math, I was being transferred to a lower Math class today. I was kind of scared and excited at the same time. Before, I had failed almost every test and flunked nearly every homework page.
Finally, the time came for Math class and my math teacher met me at my class. Class was almost over and homework was handed out. At home I couldn’t wait to see what I got on my test.
The very next day at Math time, my teacher smiled at me when I walked in. I was so excited to get my Math test back. She gave me my test and I got an...A+. I almost cried I was so happy. I got my first A+ of the year! When I got home, my mom was very excited for me, too.
After dinner at Friendly’s, we both went to get ice cream and we walked around the city.
Afterword
Now that I was transferred to a lower Math class I got a lot of A+’s. I was doing so good that I got to go back to my old Math class. At first, I got a couple B’s and B+’s, and finally A’s, then A+’s. I think being transferred really helped me to get better grades.
